Gender Assessment on the Boarderlands of Mozambique and Tanzania

About the Client
The Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) is a UK government initiative that supports international peace, security, and stability efforts. The CSSF collaborates across various UK departments and international partners to fund programs addressing conflict prevention, stabilization, and post-conflict recovery. Its strategic interventions are designed to promote global security and resilience, aiming to tackle the root causes of instability and enhance international development outcomes.

My Role & Task
I conducted a detailed gender analysis for CSSF initiatives in the Mozambique–Tanzania borderlands. The work involved policy reviews, grey literature, public data, and stakeholder consultations conducted in both English and Portuguese.

  • Gender Analysis: Reviewing existing policies, literature, and data to identify gender dynamics shaping conflict and security outcomes.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Consulting with local actors and organizations to ensure contextual relevance and inclusivity.

  • Strategic Input: Translating findings into actionable insights for project design and prioritization.

Impact
The analysis fed into CSSF’s scoping and request-for-proposals (RFP) process, helping identify which organisations are best positioned to implement programmes in the borderlands. This ensures future interventions directly address gender gaps and are grounded in the realities of local contexts.is a UK government initiative that supports international peace, security, and stability efforts.
